For the World Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany, architecht Fruto Vivas designed a huge dome-shaped pavillion 19 meters high that would open and close like a flower. It’s now a symbol of Barquisimeto, the capital of the state of Lara, some 300-odd km. west from Caracas. You can see the open petals here.
